Katelynn is the owner of Holy Mundane Birth, located in Azle, Texas and serving mothers and families from prenatal to birth and into postpartum in the DFW and surrounding rural areas. Katelynn is also a doctor of physical therapy with the majority of her career thus far spent in pediatrics and pelvic floor. Katelynn is a wife and mother to four children with one brought to her family through the blessing of adoption.
From a young age, Katelynn has been passionate about birth and aspired to be an obstetrician but quickly moved away from that path when realizing how little time many medical providers actually get to spend developing relationships with their clients. Katelynn has a heart for mothers and children, leading her to pursue pediatric physical therapy and early childhood intervention, helping families through early difficulties of adjusting to life and helping children with unique needs not only live but thrive. After having her first child in 2019, Katelynn’s passion and calling for birth work was rekindled. Since that time Katelynn has been working to further her education and certifications in areas such as pelvic floor therapy and prenatal, birth, and postpartum doula services with aspirations to further her career into midwifery as God’s opportunities allow.
Birth is a “Holy Mundane”, an experience that is life changing as well as completely everyday experience. It is an experience that you will never forget and that women all over the world go through every day. As such, it is my honor to be chosen to accompany a family through this sacred time in their life and family.
I believe that God, as the ultimate creator, made the family unit and women’s bodies to create, birth, and raise babies. As beautifully intricate creations, women’s bodies were made to birth their babies without the need for interference in most circumstances. However, as with many things in life, there are times when things do not go to plan and interventions may be an integral part of a birth for the safety or coping of mom and baby. The need for any of these interventions in no way lessens a mother’s “success” or value in her birth.
As a doula, my goal is to be a steady physical, emotional, and educational support to both the mother and any family support providers she may want to include in her prenatal, birth, and postpartum experience. When times of uncertainty or need for changes arise during a birth, my job as a doula is to provide the family with any educational resources they may need with out any pressure on which decision to make and then help advocate for the families wishes to their care providers when needed.
